BELHAVEN TOWN CENTER ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR LOCAL BREWERY AND MARKET

By The Northside Sun on 12/02/2020

Belhaven Town Center officially announces plans for The Laundry Market, an adaptive reuse development that will be home to Fertile Ground Beer, Co, Jackson’s only craft brewery. Developer David Turner and partners Ruffin Lowry, Dr. Reed Hogan, Dr. Reed Hogan III are excited about this addition to the heart of Jackson’s historic Belhaven neighborhood.

This week, BTC unveiled that Fertile Ground Beer Co., a locally-owned and operated craft brewery, will be the lead tenant in the 19,000 square foot adaptive reuse of the former Baptist Medical Center linen facility. “Our goal with Belhaven Town Center has been to incrementally develop thoughtfully designed places that will be an asset to the community for generations to come,” said Turner. “The transformation that took place in Phase I with Elvie’s, Campbell’s, and Spectrum Sip has been exciting to be a part of and I can’t wait to see how The Laundry Market with Fertile Ground will bring our vision into a reality.”

Fertile Ground Beer Co. will be an inviting and open third space where people can enjoy locally and regionally made craft beer. The brewery will have craft beer options for everyone, from the beer enthusiast to the newcomer. In addition to Fertile Ground Beer Co., The Laundry Market will feature retail, restaurant, and office space, as well as an open-air market.

“Our purpose is to create shared spaces and a built environment that will continuously draw the community together, strengthening the social capital within the City,” says Lowry. “BTC strives to create a piece of the social infrastructure that will be the change.”

Located at the corner of Belhaven’s North Jefferson and Manship Streets, Belhaven Town Center is built upon the principles of the Urban Magnet Theory, which is based on structuring a place around key planning, land use and design approaches that appeal to activity-oriented people in a community. By creating a place where these people will do more than simply stop in but gather, Belhaven Town Center is a hub where community, people, and businesses will thrive. Belhaven Town Center is built upon old soul, but with a new heartbeat. Belhaven Town Center is currently home to Campbell’s Craft Donuts & Tacos, Elvie’s All-day Café, and Spectrum Sip.
